Mr. Boudoul, Operations Manager at Safari Anticosti, with some colleagues, went on a Spring exploratory visit on Anticosti Island. Here is the summary of Mr. Boudoul’s visit.
Our stay was from March 15th to 23rd. We noticed that the western sector of the Island had a higher amount of snow than the eastern sector. About 4 feet near Port Menier compared to 3 feet in the area more to the East. Snowfalls were stronger in the center of the Island where accumulations of little more than 5 feet were recorded.
The herd seemed in good shape. We saw several deer moving quite easily over hard snow all over the territory. The snow melts normally. Since the begining of March, we have average temperatures approaching 0 to 4 degrees in daylight.
All in all, a winter that we consider as normal.
